Just G Force and myself this week. In a curious turn of events it looks like both of us will experience the joys of CT5 come September. Long way to go before that though and in the meantime, I was soon giving myself a metaphorical pat on the back for identifying this geezer.
Think it is the only picture of him on the internet so that may have helped. He was born in August, along with the other nine generally more recognisable pictures. Guess that makes him a Leo?
In terms of news, well it's Rodders who's issuing his first album of new material in 14 years and Jose Mourinho who may, or may not be sacked if his team lose on Sunday (this is news?). Oh, and this chap is contesting a speeding charge.
Does he not have people who can do that sort of thing for him?
Round 3 was a fun round, name the film from the year and description. Child's play for a film enthusiast but neither of our knowledges run deep on this subject. Good teamwork though and I think at the end it was only the story of Olympic athlete Louis Zamperini made in 2014 that defeated us.
Good film though, I've watched it quite recently which makes not knowing it unforgivable really. Available on Netflix.
Round 4 has become name the year so it was a case of linking up the shooting of Ronald Reagan, the launch of MTV and DeLorean cars starting to be produced in Belfast. 1981, a great year though possibly not for those reasons. Onto the ten pointers and a clean sweep mainly due to G Force getting the President featured on the two dollar bill.
So we arrived at half time in good shape. Quite a small field in the quiz this week after the last two bumper weeks so "steady as she goes" from now on.
After a bit of a breakdown somewhere between Wasabi and Eardrum, link-ups managed to do what they were supposed to so on to jeopardy.
Now in my experience, when you're aiming to play safe in Jeopardy, you very rarely do finish up going for it. So which London club did this fella join in 2005?
An obvious red herring there and I threw another one in with Barnet. Chelsea got a mention as well. Swerving it was the sensible thing to do, as we also did with holes in a palatte and the bull-fighting dance (I actually didn't want to own up to knowing this one). So we had a seven.
Now I think music was actually a clean sweep this week, none of those pesky Murs/Mars conundrums so the Hound parked itself on a very respectable 158. And that was enough! Drinking the winnings while the pub was still open was a challenge we were delighted to accept. To next week. And Davids played for Tottenham; of course.

Hound Affairs
4 of us today. Kevster with a 1am pickup at Gatwick so steady on the sauce. The rest of us making sure that average consumption remains at a decent level.
Easy pictures of stuff starting with the letter C....
Followed by a maximum in the Current Affairs round for the first time in my memory, it’s been coming for a while. The clinching question related to this bunch...
Two wrong in Round 3 which covered driving regulations. Stop signs are octagonal and it IS legal to overtake on the inside on motorways.
Guess the year round included Hanson- Mmm Bop, Channel 5 launch and Katrina & The Waves eurovision win. We got all the answers but were one year out in our guess.
Ten pointers and Chain letters round were comfortably dealt with, no points dropped.
No real problems in the Jeopardy round, Norway has europe’s longest coastline, Like a Virgin was Madonna’s first UK number one. All bar one in the music round giving a big total of 182. Other teams all in the range 113-144. In keeping with the new tradition most of the winnings went back into the PA’s coffers.
In other news, Robson has offered to host Ryder Cup Sunday at the end of September.
G-Force.

Call Us What You Like Hound
Quick one this week as I didn't actually take any notes. But I can report:
The pool table at the PA is really quite good. Had a game against Joe before the quiz kicked off.
Who was Elvis's backing band? One of those questions that make you stop and think? If he had one, why didn't any of us know it?
These fellas. They were with him for about 15 years.
What is anosmia? Probably what you think it might be?
What is the name of the dog in traditional Punch & Judy?
He's called Toby. Never understood Punch and Judy, presumably popular at a time when there was very little else to do.
The team of teachers, Consistently Last? Well there must have been about 12 of them. But they weren't last, or first. LATT and The Anoraks both nailed the jeopardy and battled it out, forget who won, think Call Us What You Like plus a Hound were 4th. But the pub was really busy and a great time had by all.

Strange Hound
Well I haven't got any notes from last night so this is based on memory, and we know how bad that is. First to arrive, I was confronted by this:
A pool table in the pub! In the quizzing section! Well I never! I actually quite fancied a game but I was first there as indicated so after being informed by Gerry the quiz had moved, I slunk off to the centre of the pub.
Next to arrive, Kevster and his many ailments and finally Steve made up our jolly threeball. In another departure from the norm, Siobhan was off on hols so "Brother" Louie would be voicing with Gerry marking. Crazy.
So this is where my lack of notes starts to tell. There were pictures and she was one of them.
Maybe there was a connection but we couldn't find it.
Ok, current affairs and the only one I remember was that there are £169m in old pound coins still in circulation. And Steve knew this right off the bat! But realistically that's less than 3 each, I've probably got that swirling my golf bag. Come to think of it, I've got money in currencies no longer in existence. But that's another story.
Ok, more questions that I can't remember. And it started raining, properly hard.
Just like it was outside the Purley Arms.
Of the ten pointers, the only one really vexing us was who was POTUS at the end of WW2. Franklin D didn't quite make it so Harry S took over. Phew? What is it with Presidents and that middle initial Donald J?
Round about now Kevster headed off to Heathrow so he can be absolved from further blame.
Link ups were pretty well dispatched so down to the jeopardy. A couple we baulked at but might have punted (successfully as it happens) had we had a shot. But we really didn't know what the birthstone for August was. Clue 1, this stuff:
Clue 2, there was a girl at school named after it ……… Williams
Music came and went and I butchered the numerical question for Maltesers. No matter, a third place behind a narrow win for Plan. Till next time.

Quinking Hound
Quinking: noun, gerund of Quink. Deriving pleasure from quizzing and drinking at the same time even if one is to the detriment of the other.
First up pIctures of things beginning with E. All straightforward except for an odd looking contraption which I can’t for the life me now remember what it turned out to be.
Decent current affairs round, and yes they did ask for the Love Island winners. Winner of the most predictable question of the week.
Round 3 History. Victoria was the queen involved in the bedchamber crisis not Liz I, and The Battle of Bunker Hill was part of the US revolutionary/independence war not Nam. Otherwise good including the town famous for...

Connections round has been replaced by name the year. Events included OJ Simpson murder case something to do with Silvio Berlusconi and Fred West arrest. We were 3 years out.
Ok up to this point but trouble with initials from here on in. I have an LG tele but didn’t know what LG stands for.
10 points missed so aggressive approach for the Jeopardy round required.
We came unstuck in the middle of the Chain Letters round. Problems started with putting yardarm instead of yardstick. This led to not getting kettle based on copper/jug/tea connections. Then failed to know that the first mobile phone call was made by this entertainer...
We got the first nine in the Jeopardy round. To win the quiz all we needed was to identify what SD stands for in SD card.
Secure Digital not Storable Data. Wipeout. Still came second, 1 point dropped in music round. Train sang Hey Soul Sister.
I’m missing next two. Sure Robson And Daren would welcome any Hounds available.
