So this was is. The five top sportspeople of our generation, i.e. born after Graham, who transcended their sport to become global icons. So
#1 - Usain Bolt
#2 - Roger Federer
Honourable mentions, Mike Tyson, Tiger Woods and Michael Schumacher
Look, there's always going to be one or two we're not happy with but that's democracy for you. Not a bad representation of our generation all in all. Where are all the women though? Where are the "alternatively abled" athletes? Where indeed.
So, the quiz proper and we kicked off with a Dr Who themed round, plus assistants. Steve set off on a 70 yard run with this one before crossing for a marvellous finish from Daren with Karen Gillan.
Really don't know her at all but seems a charming sort.
Now, you know what, my notes get fairly sketchy from here but I can confirm:
- It was peanut butter used by inmates of an Alabama Jail to help them escape. Does anyone, outside of Alabama, still eat peanut butter? Let's just take the two least healthy foods we can find and mix them together shall we?
- Sarah Harding is the ex Girls Aloud member heading into the Celebrity Big Brother House. In typical ladette pose:
- A filibeg is indeed a kilt
- Euromillions numbers go up to 50 - Not hard to see our blind spots, kilts and lotteries.
- There was a nice Only Connect style round where we had to get the next in the sequences, Avon, Beds, Berks, Bucks..... or 18,4,13,6 .... Which reminds me of something.
- 99 Red Balloons and Kung Fu have something to do with ice creams/lollies
And that's about as far as my notes take me. Hopefully you've all received an invite from Pete by now and Daren was reviewing his house-warming date. Ok, he didn't make the top 5 but in honour of his storming win last night, and remembering the evening I was only 3 minutes behind him in a race in Nonsuch Park, I give you Sir Mo.

Gentlemen...
ReplyDeleteMost importantly great fun with 5 of us there. Particularly good effort by those who have less free time than the rest of us. Big turnout by other teams as well.
ReplyDeleteI had a big 'turn out' the next day if that helps?
